How did you meet your partner?

During thanksgiving holiday in the united states and a friend Fela, asked my sisters and I to help out with preparing food. I told him I didn't have a ride & taking the bus over to his place would take a while so he said he will send a friend to pick us up. About 20 mins later, our ride arrived.

That 'sparky' moment!

As soon as Damilola and her sisters got into the car, they all introduced themselves to Ola (Fela's friend) and started talking. She stylishly checked him out and noticed his complexion which in itself was her weakness... in her words, "a dark skinned brother as in dark chocolate & shinning, long eyelashes, tall & his smile made me go weak in my knees!".Because of the way he carried himself, her first impression of him was that he was a quiet, reserved and God fearing dude.

How did you guys start dating? Were you friends at first?

Well after meeting him in November 2003,I didn't see him again until Feb 2004.I was chilling in front of my class in Essex county College Newark when someone tapped me and said "hi Lola" .I looked back and it was Ola; Of course something skipped inside my belly and the 1st thing I said was "bawo ni? " Which is like what's up?

We got chatting and he told me he had tried unsuccessfully several times to get my number from Fela. He told me he was going to a Chinese place to eat and I said don't tell me you are not taking me with you and after that day, he invited me to go see a movie with him, The Passion of Christ. He held my hand throughout the movie and when he dropped me off at home, he kissed me and asked me out.

Was it love at first sight?

Yes, it was love at first sight because I couldn't stop thinking about him the whole time.

Where and when did you share your first kiss?

We shared our first kiss right outside my parents house.I didn't even care to think my mom would kill me if she caught us!

How did you make up after fights?

Makeup sex of course! I think he started getting me mad on purpose just to have more.

How soon after the engagement did preparations begin?

We dated from March 2004 and he proposed on his birthday; November 3rd 2006. We were on a plane heading to Kansas. When he asked, I was shocked because with him, I honestly was having lots of fun and I never had the time to stop and think of marriage. The preparations started immediately because we chose Aug 25 2007 and we had to secure a venue for that date.

How was the experience like planning the wedding?

We had an event planner to handle everything. My husband and my folks worked with the planner. But i made sure I picked out the perfect wedding dress and also those of my bridesmaids’. I didn't even experience the stress most people go through planning a wedding. It was smooth sailing for me.

When I said the words "I do" to Ola, I felt like Cinderella in a fairy tale .It was like a dream come true for me.

Where did you spend your honeymoon?

For a whole week, we had mad fun! We spent our honeymoon in Florida Keys. We went to Miami beach, Islamorada Ecotourist playground and even swam with the dolphins. I was a wonderful time.

How is life after the honeymoon?

Lol...it’s been 5 beautiful years with 2 boys eating all our food, We can't complain...We thank God! OWSN
