Sheriff & Halimat Arogundade's Story

Being a very reserved and easygoing man, Sheriff had always wanted to meet someone who understood him. Meeting Halima was fate as they met through a mutual friend. When Halimat stepped into his house, that was the "it" moment as it was love at first for Sheriff .He was lucky to be at the right place at the right time. He had just met his future wife.

What was the attraction?

A million words can’t really explain it all, though I will try as much as possible to describe how I met the most amazing woman in the world (of course after my mother and sisters ), fell for her and eventually made her my wife. I am a reserved dude and I don’t really easy up when I meet people but with her, it just felt so easy talking to her. I was so excited and happy.

What was your first impression of her?

I looked at her long and thoughtfully and said to myself, if I really want to make her my wife, she will be difficult to get and she didn’t make it any easy for me.

How did you guys start dating? Were you friends at first?

We chatted a while and I told my friend that this lady had to be my wife. We started off by being friends though I knew the game plan I had laid out. When I told her I wanted to take our relationship to the next step, she said NO. I understood that she had to do some forming (which is normal) but eventually she succumbed and that’s how we began our love tale. We started as friends and continued like that for about six months as time passed by, we became closer and inseparable.

Where and when did you share your first kiss?

It was in my house while we were dating. It's one of those moments that can never be forgotten.

How did you make up after fights?

We have faced so many challenges through the course of our 4 years courtship but it made us stronger, wiser and more committed to each other. I have a policy of not allowing fights to linger beyond that day and so no matter what the issue may be, we always make sure we talk about everything that bothers us.  I enjoy talking to her and that has been very helpful in building our relationship over the years.

How was the experience like planning the wedding?

We planned to have the wedding after my youth service ended in October, so we chose 26th January 2012 for the wedding. Planning a wedding is never an easy task; you have loads of things to think about and to choose from. It was quite stressful for us but at the end of the day, it went really well.

These times were magical and exciting moments for me because, we had our child on 18th January, had the naming ceremony on 25th January and I resumed at a new job on the 1st of February. I'd say it was faith and believe that made it all fall into place.

How has life been since after saying I do?

It has been a joyful story all through; I can say being married comes with its own set of goodluck. Well for me, I have changed jobs twice since I got married all in the space of 2 months, I am now a certified professional in my career and I am already thinking of taking the next big leap in my life.

Life has been great after 4 years of being with my soul mate, I am blessed to be married to my wife Halimat and we are blessed with a lovely son.

I couldn’t have wished for anything better from God. I love them both.
